The BBC’s new #1in4 campaign gets celebrities talking about mental health

Health experts could talk about the importance of getting rid of the mental health stigma all day. But would anyone really pay attention to them? To get people who may not usually feel comfortable talking about mental health – as well as young people – to open up about their experiences, the BBC has launched a new campaign. Called #1in4 – search the hashtag on Twitter, It’s really interesting – the campaign is getting celebrities, online influencers and everyone else to share a selfie of them with the hashtag #1in4. The point is that 1 in 4 people in the UK struggle with mental health issues, a figure that seems big but will hopefully prove comforting for those who are in need of help themselves. Not to mention it’s great to see big stars like David Tennant, Olivia Colman and Tom Hardy get involved.

The Sun has published a great Heads Together explainer

If you haven’t heard of Heads Together you’ve probably been living under a rock over the past few weeks! The new campaign spearheaded by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry has got a dizzying amount of media coverage recently – and it’s so great to see. The point of the campaign is to get people talking about their emotional well-being, with many celebs (and even the royals themselves) sharing their own experiences and talking about the benefits of counselling. This post from The Sun gets you up to speed if you’ve missed the media hype.
