    About

I am a highly experienced psychotherapist working in private practice. I have previously worked in the NHS and HMPS. I am currently working with successful, high-achieving professional people who nevertheless feel they need somewhere to think about complex matters affecting their emotional wellbeing and holding them back.

Choosing psychotherapy is a big step. You will be making an important commitment to a significant undertaking. It calls for a certain kind of resilience and a capacity for reflection. Any serious psychotherapy is bound to be challenging and to take unexpected turns. However, the insight and clarity of thought that psychotherapy lends itself to will enhance your sense of autonomy and self-determination. Clients typically report reductions in symptoms and improved relationships, not least with themselves. This means more satisfaction in work, family, and recreation. The psychotherapeutic 'space', whether in a room or virtually by video-link, is a safe place in which to bring the thoughts and worries that seem to have no other possible outlet. The relief gained by unburdening oneself of unwanted emotional material opens up psychic space for further self-development.

I welcome all enquiries. You can always arrange a one-off consultation to discuss what therapy might mean for you. I provide open-ended psychotherapy at frequencies of once or twice a week. I also have extensive experience of time-limited psychotherapy of up to 16 sessions if clients have a particular issue that is suitable for a short-term intervention. I have specialist experience of borderline personality disorder and am also interested in intra-familial and parenting issues.
