About
My name is Nigel Baxter and I have been a counsellor/therapist for over 10 years, with 450+ hours of client experience at a GP practice.
I have worked with clients with various issues, and across a vast age group, with the client being the expert on themselves being a strong premise first and foremost. I work to the client's needs, while also challenging, when appropriate, and with sensitivity.
I am a Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and as such, within in their guidelines, I train for at least 30 hours per year, although this is generally surpassed as there are new developments and constant learning to do.
I have a Diploma in Counselling Studies, recognised by the BACP, as well as various certificates, as my continuous professional development has progressed. I also see a supervisor, monthly, for one and a half hours.
Put most simply I work strongly alongside the client using Rogers' core conditions, of unconditional positive regard, empathy, congruence (although I use other "techniques" and theories as, if and when, needed by the person I am privileged to be working/walking alongside.)
Qualifications
- Foundation Degree (Diploma) in Counselling Studies
- Certificate in Counselling Studies
- First Diploma in Counselling for Addiction
- Mental Health Awareness course (one of many cpd courses)
