About
Hi, and thanks for visiting my page, my name is Fran, and i work as a person centred /integrative.
Quite often in life when we are at a crossroads, or uncertain of what to do, we find the "first step is the hardest step to take".If you are at that stage in your life and are feeling uncertain, overwhelmed and anxious, talking to a counsellor/therapist can help you to see things from a different perspective, and allow you to work through the things in your life that are troubling you.
I firmly believe that building up a therapeutic relationship is the key when supporting someone to work through whatever issues may be troubling them. I aim to work in a warm empathetic manner, based on trust and respect, and to create a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where you feel that you can explore your issues, led by you and at your own pace.
I have worked for over 20 years with disadvantaged individuals and families with complex needs, the work that I did and the people I worked with led me to change my career, and I become a counsellor, something that I am extremely passionate about. During my career, I worked with The Governments "Families Matter Programme", and worked with a wide range of issues, such as substance misuse/alcohol issues, mental health issues, self-harm in young people, offenders, and sexual offenders, I worked with family conflicts and relationship issues, and sexual abuse and domestic violence.
I have worked for The NHS Frontline Programme during the pandemic, as a volunteer counsellor to the emergency services, and frontline staff. I have experience as a therapist of working with issues surrounding sexual abuse, domestic violence, relationship issues, family conflict, low self-esteem and confidence, work-related stress, anxiety and panic attacks, PTSD, loss and grief and family conflict. I also have a keen interest in supporting women with all things related to menopause.
