About
Hi,
thank you for visiting my profile.
First and foremost, I am an integrative, person-centred counsellor,
working in a non-judgemental way with the "person" regardless of the
diagnosis or the specific problem. I work with people of all faiths or
none, both in person, via video link, on the telephone or by text
message.
I draw on various approaches from time to time and use creative
materials to encourge the expression of feelings and emotions. I am
trauma trained and have valuable experience in helping the victims of
abuse or bullying.
I value more than anything, the autonomy of the individual allowing
space and time in which your story can be told.
In the past I have worked for an agency specializing in sexual violation
and a charity helping people who have recently been bereaved. I have
successfully helped people with a wide variety of problems, some of
which are listed here. I provide a safe space for you to tell your
story. The work is lead by you the client. My aim to help you develop a
new self awareness from which you can gain confidence and strength to
lead a more fulfilled life. Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem or even
suicidal thoughts can rob you of your personhood. Knowing yourself
better can help enormously.
Having trained in a wide variety of approaches, I believe that it is the
relationship between the counsellor and the client which is most
relevant to the therapy working.
I have 14 years of experience working with various issues clients bring
to therapy, such as depression, abuse, anxiety, bullying, PTSD,
relationship difficulties, anger, sexual difficulties and much more.
I find the use of creative materials such as timelines, story boards,
sand tray work, inner child work and art work helps clients to find a
way to be more in touch with their feelings and can feel less intense,
than talking therapy alone.
It is only you who knows where the pain lies. My work helps people
discover what needs to heal and how this can be achieved.
I occaisionally encourage the use of Mindfulness but only when the
client finds this helpful.
I hope this helps you understand my approach and how I work.
