I have been working as a psychotherapist for over 10 years. I have worked with a wide range of ages and issues over the years and work integratively (that is with a variety of techniques and theories) in order to find what fits each individual best. It is my belief that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important contributor to things improving and therefore I do everything I can to create a comfortable, non-judgemental, safe place for us to work together.
Apart from working psychodynamically I also work with new evidence based processes like Coherence Therapy and Memory Reconsolidation which are really effective when dealing with specific symptoms like addictions, panic attacks or general anxiety. Internal Family Systems is another method I like to use which helps to unlock the belief systems holding you back.
I have found that working flexibly in terms of sessions works really well. If there is a pressing matter that is causing a lot of distress, it's helpful to not feel there is a limit in terms of weekly sessions or hours. Conversely if there is nothing much going on in your life once one issue is resolved then I'm more than happy for people to take a break and then come back if something comes up. I believe that eventually psychotherapy will be viewed as more like a trip to the doctor, taken as needed.
