The first thing I do is get to know what your problem is. I do this by asking you particular questions which help me to understand your situation.

I listen carefully to what you have to say, how work makes you feel. We explore together the impact that work related anxiety is having on you and those close to you.

The answers to these questions provide us with a foundation on which to build a solution to your problems.

By identifying the resources you already have, we look for solutions to your problem, that will continue to work for you after our sessions have ended.

Ultimately, we’ll be able to describe what a better future would look like, how to get there, and how you would know that you’ve reached your goal.

Sessions are held online, using Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Each session lasts for 1 hour, and subsequent sessions are held every 2 weeks.

At the beginning of each session, we look at how things have changed since the last session. At the end, we decide what to work on before the next session.

I will support you every step of the way by being supportive, positive, and solution-focused.

I spent over 25 years in the Finance industry. Work related anxiety caused me a lot of problems. I felt miserable, guilty and ashamed. I’ve experienced depression, anxiety, and taken time off sick as a result. It affected my performance at work and caused lots of problems in my personal life. I ended up in a vicious circle, scared of work and achieving so little because I was frightened I’d make a mistake and lose my job… which made the prospect of losing my job even more likely.

I knew how work was making me feel, but I couldn’t see how things could ever get any better. Eventually I got professional help, and discovered that I already had the resources to improve my situation. It was just that I’d struggled to find those resources on my own.

After I left the Finance industry, I studied and qualified as a Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I’m an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS), and a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I completed specialist training in online counselling, using Webcam, Instant Message, Email and Voice Only, with the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online. Previously, I’ve been a Counsellor with MIND, and I’ve worked with the Samaritans. I’ve helped many people with all sorts of problems, some of which I have experienced myself. Some of these problems include Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement, Anger, Suicidal feelings, Loneliness.
