I adhere to ethical and professional conduct when working with clients and this is guided by the BACP framework.
My approach to therapy is Person-centred, Integrative which means that the way I work with people is influenced by a number of different types of therapy and theory. I choose to work in this way as I believe that we are all unique individuals with different ways of seeing the world, and different ways of thinking and processing our feelings.
My main influences in therapy practice are Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Existential perspectives of human development and emotions. I am also interested in Mindfulness/Mentalisation and how they can help people gain a greater sense over their emotions.
Currently I work as an Honorary Counsellor within the NHS and the Charity Sectors with people facing difficult issues and events that impacted on their mental health and wellbeing. I have worked with people experiencing personal issues such as anxiety, depression, loss, relational issues, relationship struggles and stress.
I have also faced challenges in life and have had my own therapy to work through my thoughts and feelings. This personal experience means I understand what it’s like to seek therapy and sit with a new therapist, uncertain about where the process might take me.
