English

The modality of therapy that I offer is person-centered psychotherapy, focused on the facilitation of an environment for effective and lasting change through the provision of the therapeutic conditions of unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence.
My experience is varied, I have worked with children and young people with issues ranging from previous abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, school related stress and many other presentations. I have worked with adults from issues including (but not limited to), PTSD, depression, anxiety, child loss during pregnancy, bereavement, family members suffering from addiction and previous abuse and trauma.
The way that I work is constantly developing. I have included some information on what working with me might look like, but if you have any questions on anything below, or anything else, please do get in touch.
I offer an initial 15 minute free telephone consultation. This is so that you and I can speak with one another to see if we look to be a good fit, this is important as having the right therapist will allow for really effective therapeutic work in sessions. Having a therapist you click with really is important, and so if for any reason you don't feel that we would work well together - I will do my best to give you the details of someone I think you may would enjoy working with.
Our first session together would be an 'assessment' session, which is not as daunting as it may sound! Simply put, this session is focused on us establishing a clearer and deeper picture of what we are working with and what we are working towards. This allows for us to also come up with person therapeutic goals and milestones and to decide if you would like short-term, long-term or open ended support from me. It also allows me to indicate how we might work together and for us to discuss what you would like my role to be as your therapist. In this session, we will also create a personal progress tracking tool, this can take many forms and would focus on what you feel are the ways you would like to grow, progress and feel as you journey through our therapeutic work. It allows you to hold a physical representation of the work that you are doing and the progress you are making - which starts from your thinking about starting therapy and ends far beyond.
In our first session, we will also establish and agree on the frequency of our reviews of our therapeutic work. This means that we have time and space dedicated to the exploration of the effectiveness of the work we are doing and to alter any ways that we are working that may not be working for you. These reviews are really important as they allow for us to make sure that you are getting what you need from therapy.
I hope that this information has been helpful and I hope to hear from you soon, all the best!
